We LOVE Greece! We had the pleasure of meeting up with our friends at @unifrec_piraeus during our trip to Greece a week ago. Being a member of the @gkfgroup_ since the very beginning has allowed us to establish many new relationships with agents worldwide. Wherever our travels take us, we always have friendly faces nearby!
As 2024 comes to an end, we like to take a moment to reflect. This year has been chaotic, challenging, rewarding, innovating, empowering and we loved every second of it! We had the opportunity to meet up with many agents this year, join a new network, grow our family and do what we do best, help move anything that came our way to, through and from Canada.
Tractors shipping from New Brunswick to Cartagena, buoys from British Colombia to the UK, a boat from Ontario to the Caymen Islands, shipping a die cutter from Ontario to Santos. Just a few projects we were honored to manage this year.
Thank you for helping us grow our business, and our every growing international family. Thank you for a fabulous 2024.
Last week our friends Benny and Luis from GSLOG were in Toronto, so we couldn’t resist meeting up with them. It doesn’t happen often that one of our lovely international partners happens to be in our neck of the woods, let alone two! Nothing beats being able to connect in person. To our lovely GKF Group purple partners from Peru , thank you for the fabulous visit. We look forward to seeing you guys soon! Lots of love from Canada!
This year we were honored to attend the annual conference in Cartagena, Colombia. Organised by our lovely friends at the GKF Network, we had an inspirational week, exchanging new ideas with international agents. Thanks again GKF Networks for yet again outdoing themselves, and organizing another amazing conference.
The past week has been an enriching blend of innovation, collaboration, and forward-thinking discussions. The networking sessions were invaluable, fostering connections that could lead to future partnerships and collaborations.
Overall, the conference was a testament to the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of the logistics industry, sparking inspiration and anticipation for what’s to come.To our ever growing and expanding international family, we thank you for this past week! Lots of love from Canada!
I’m coming to you today to share another very proud moment in my career. As you may know, I had the honour of being showcased on the top-rated, award-winning W series, Undercover Boss Canada.
That humbling opportunity not only rewarded 5 very special employees, it proved to me that the passionate way I conduct business improves the lives of our valued employees, partnered agents and clients alike.
The same producer of Undercover Boss Canada has now brought to television a new 6-part series called “Employable Me”.Every member of the Employable Me cast is either living with vision loss or a neurological condition such as Tourette Syndrome, Asperger Syndrome, Down Syndrome or ADHD.
Many of these gifted people have been trying to find work for years – as they struggle to overcome the challenges of their condition, change employers’ perceptions and land a coveted job.
At the heart of the series beats a radical new idea emerging in science…Disabilities and neurological conditions should not always be viewed in negative terms. In fact, many conditions mask talents and skills that employers would find invaluable–if they only took the time to discover them.
“Employable Me”delivers a range of bold, emotional, and personal stories with real purpose in which featured individuals will be judged in terms of what they can do, rather than pre judged in terms of what they struggle to do.
Heart-breaking and humorous, surprising and life-affirming, “Employable Me” is genuinely life-changing for both our unique job-hunters and the visionary companies willing to take a chance on them.
Flynn International is one of those visionary companies and we are so very proud to share our participation in this documentary and encourage everyone watching this video to open your heart to the possibility of employing someone who clearly is not on your HR’s radar.
Check out the trailer and stay tuned for something amazing! Thanks for watching!
It’s the way our Team makes a difference in people’s lives.
I’m not the only one in the company that believes in paying it forward but it just so happens to be my family that hits the Flynn International news this month.
Every July Randy and I, with the help of some very dear friends, host an event at our house just so we can have a big gathering of our closest friends and family.
It all started back in 2012 when we hosted a 50th birthday party at our small farm just outside of Milton, Ontario Canada. So many times we would see old friends at a car show or the Fall Fair and never have enough time to get caught up on our busy lives. Always we vowed to get together and then life got in the way and we wouldn’t see them again for years. So here we were gathering friends to our home and knowing if we wanted to see everyone at least once a year it would have to be us that host the party.
I’m not really sure why I felt the obligation but it struck me that if our friends and family were to go and enjoy a day out in the country they would most likely pay an entrance fee so why not have one in the form of a food donation. Even though all of our friends and family were contributing to the afternoon pot luck dinner I asked them to open their hearts a little more and bring some extra food in a non-perishable form.
Every year the volume increases as people generously stick to the list of most required items and also add in personal hygiene and toiletries. What made this year even more special, run by a lovely young girl named Amy, was a lemonade stand on-site for all of our thirsty guests. Amy loved hearing about the food donations and because she has been so successful in the past raising money through her delicious lemonade for other charities, she decided to set up right in the heart of the action. We are so very proud to also donate $108.50 to the Food Bank on Amy’s behalf.
Food Banks across Canada see significant drops in donations during the summer holidays as most people are on vacation and schools that often hold food drives are also on their summer breaks. It’s very easy to be generous during the holidays when we are constantly reminded to give but the people who need the food banks don’t stop eating just because the weather gets better. We just improved our local food bank by delivering 294 lbs of donated non-perishables.
Flynn International encourages all of our valued Suppliers, Partnered Agents and associates to pay it forward in anyway that your can and share your stories with us.
Congratulations on celebrating your 150th Birthday July 1st, 2017, you don’t look a day over the 2 billion year old lava rocks we’ve discover within you.
Being the second largest country on this beautiful planet with a population of over 36 million of the nicest people, it’s easy to see why so many want to call Canada “home.” You have 3 beautiful seas that border your gorgeous curves, more fresh lakes than the rest of the world combined and have the most diverse landscape from coast to coast to coast. We Canadians can literally ski the mountains in the morning, swim the ocean that afternoon out west, watch our dog run away for days in the prairies or feel tropical with the humidity of the east. Our most common topics of conversation is always about, not a-boot, our weather.
Because of you Canada, the world enjoys sports like hockey, basketball and lacrosse. Lives have been saved with the invention of insulin, Sonar, the hard cup Jockstrap and instant reply. Foodies flock to you for your exquisite cuisine of Canadian Grade A Beef, Yukon Gold Potatoes, Poutine and Nanaimo Bars. Feel free to pour real Canadian Maple Syrup all over that food before you wash it down with some Canadian Club Rye, Canada Dry Ginger Ale or a Caesar.
Famous Canadian celebrities include Donald Sutherland, William Shatner, Neil Young, The Ryan’s (Reynolds & Gosling…you’re welcome), Rachel McAdams, Keanu Reeves, Kirsten Flynn, Michael J. Fox, Drake and even Santa Claus is Canadian (hence the red and white attire). In fact you are such an amazing country that there isn’t enough time left this year to list all of your super stars or capture how wonderful you are.
In recognition of your awesomeness I will be spending your birthday with fellow Canuck friends and family “The Nicest People” to celebrate our freedom, kindness and “My Home and Native Land”!
Happy Birthday Canada. I love you and I’m proud to be Canadian!
Love,
Kirsten and all of us at Flynn International, PI Logistics and UPakWeShip Canada
